How Much Can You Save?

How much will I save by visiting a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site?

The VITA offers free tax help to low- to moderate-income ($49,000 and below) people who cannot prepare their own tax returns. Volunteers sponsored by various organizations receive training to help prepare basic tax returns in communities across the country. VITA sites are generally located at community and neighborhood centers, libraries, schools, shopping malls, and other convenient locations. Most locations also offer free electronic filing. Call the UNH Cooperative Extension Family, Home and Garden Center at: 1-888-227-7669 for a referral to a free tax preparation site nearest you, or view our list of free tax preparation sites located throughout New Hampshire.

How much will it cost to have a professional prepare my taxes?

Tax preparation fees vary depending on the complexity of your return, but can be anywhere from $80-$200. Your tax professional can give you an estimate. Having a tax service prepare your taxes can be costly.

Preparing your taxes yourself would be free.
