What You Will Need To Have Your Taxes Prepared

Items taxpayers need to bring to have their tax returns prepared:

• Must bring photo identification

• Social Security cards for the taxpayer, their spouse and

   dependents, if applicable

• Birth dates for primary, secondary and dependents on the tax

   return

• Current year’s tax package if they received one

• Wage and earning statement(s) Form W-2, W-2G, 1099-R, from

   all employers

• Interest and dividend statements from banks (Forms 1099)

• A copy of last year’s Federal and State returns if available

• Bank routing numbers and account numbers for direct deposit

• Other relevant information about income and expenses

• Total amount paid for day care
or education and student loans

If you lost or do not have all of these items, you can still get your taxes prepared. Call the IRS helpline at 1-800-829-1040 to find out what you

need to do and how to obtain replacement documents.

Note: To file taxes electronically on a married filing joint tax return, both spouses must be present to sign the required forms.
